3 Distribution is one of the first customers in the UK to use Carrier Transicold’s upgraded Foretrack tracking, telematics and fleet management system, after providing valuable feedback during the system’s development and trialling the next-generation software ahead of its official rollout.

Now available for download as a mobile app on both iOS and Android devices, the upgraded version of Foretrack features two-way communication from a connected device anywhere in the world. This provides 3 Distribution with a wealth of new functionality, including the ability to remotely alter the set point or operation mode as well as initiate defrosts and pre-trip checks, and clear alarms.

“The ability to constantly monitor our multi-temperature fridges and change the settings while they’re on the road has proved invaluable when guaranteeing cold chain integrity

The latest version of Foretrack also features an enhanced voice alert and escalation mechanism, which auto-escalates alarms to a higher level if they aren’t dealt with quickly by the first person in the chain

for our customers,” Patrick Finch, managing director, 3 Distribution, said.

“In the unlikely event the fridge hasn’t been reset or is at an incorrect temperature, we can log in and save a small human error from potentially spoiling a load,” he said

The latest version of Foretrack also features an enhanced voice alert and escalation mechanism, which auto-escalates alarms to a higher level if they aren’t dealt with quickly by the first person in the chain. Fuel levels can also be closely monitored, helping to defend against fuel theft.

3 Distribution operates 34 Chereau, Gray & Adams and Schmitz Cargobull trailers and three rigid trucks, all with Carrier refrigeration. Each vehicle covers around 65,000 miles each year, transporting a mix of ambient, chilled and frozen foods in the UK.
