Frappa conference on cryogenic refrigeration

Davezieux, France: French body and trailer builder Frappa is hosting a conference demonstration of a new cryogenic refrigeration system.

The conference and demonstration, with all speakers in English, takes place on 13 February 2013 at Frappa’s factory at 132 rue de Soras, 07430, Davezieux, France.

The Cryo-IN system is an indirect refrigeration system using liquid nitrogen. Frappa has built its first truck using the indirect system, a rigid with two compartments. It has been in successful daily use for several months now says system designer, Bernard Valentin from Cryofridge.

Frappe TruckFrappa has built some 50 trucks using the direct version of the system, the Cryo-DI. The Cryo-IN system is produced and assembled for either trailers or rigid trucks by Frappa and Cryofridge.

Representatives from industrial gas supplier, Messer, will speak at the conference about its technology for liquid nitrogen filling stations. Messer has contributed to the concept helping with the sizing and the performance testing of the indirect system’s exchanger.

This new system offers several advantages:  no noise pollution, temperature pull down twice as fast as traditional systems, reduced diesel consumption, and decrease in carbon emissions.

The conference programme includes presentations from:

  • Julien Torre Frappa, owner and chief executive, Frappa
  • Angélique Rénier, James Hennequin, and Christophe Henry from Messer
  • Bernard Valentin, Cryofridge
  • Germain Blauvac, Frappa
