Morrisons renews its contract with Norbert Dentressangle

Glasgow, Scotland, UK: Morrisons supermarket has renewed its contract with Norbert Dentressangle to operate a 53,000sq metre composite distribution centre at Bellshill and Eurocentral – an 8,000 sq metre fresh produce distribution centre, both on the outskirts of Glasgow, serving Morrisons stores in Scotland.

Through its acquisition of Christian Salvesen, Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK has operated the Bellshill DC since it opened in 1989, initially for Safeway and, since its own acquisition of Safeway in 2004, for Morrisons.

Norbert Dentressangle is responsible for the management and handling of all products covering ambient groceries, bread, fresh prepared and frozen products and fresh produce. A warehouse team receives, picks and despatches around the clock seven days a week to ensure best possible freshness for Morrisons customers.

There is also a road-going fleet that services all Scottish stores and also supplies frozen products to some stores in the North of England.

Chris Noone, distribution director, Morrisons said: “We are pleased to be able to extend the commercial arrangements for a further two years and feel confident that Norbert Dentressangle will continue to provide good value for money. They have been able to demonstrate that we can continue to receive excellent service levels and measurable cost savings, as well as working with us in a strategic capacity as we continue to evolve our supply chain to further underpin our core values of freshness, value and service.”
