Oceana’s cold storage merger with V&A gets green light

Cape Town, South Africa: Fishing and cold storage group Oceana has finally been given approval to take over V&A Cold Store.

The deal was given the green light by the Competition Tribunal, with specific conditions to allow third-party fish customers to retain access to cold storage facilities.

The merged entity will have a dominant position in the market for quayside cold storage and handling of loose and frozen packaged fish.

The merged firm will be allowed to exceed the 50% storage quota (7,250 pallet spaces), provided it does not have a negative effect on the third-party fish customers.
