Roberts Transport sees growth in chilled food sector

Littlehampton, UK: Roberts Transport, which specialises in temperature-controlled and ambient distribution and warehousing, says that joining the Fortec Distribution Network has led to increased demand for its services so needs to expand its warehouse.

The company, which joined Fortec last year, is investing in new trailers and is planning to expand its 25,000sq metre warehouse at the Ford Airfield Industrial Estate, according to the UK Haulier website. It wants to move into adjoining premises in a bid to boost capacity by 40%.

Roberts Transport runs a 27-strong fleet and is looking to purchase Euroliner trailers.

Owner Dave Roberts told UK Haulier: “We are continuing to grow and are experiencing a marked growth in the chilled food manufacturing sector. We believe the pallet sector will continue to grow and there is also increased demand for groupage in dry and chilled goods.”

Roberts Transport is also extending its customer base, securing contracts with chilled food manufacturers, supermarkets and the pharmaceutical sector.
