Ardboe Coldstore extends Tyrone cold store

Tyrone, Northern Ireland: Ardboe Coldstore has extended its cold storage and blast freezing capacity at its Tyrone facility. The extension will be operation the end of July and cost £2.5m (US$4m).

“The new facility will give us an additional five-and-a-half thousand tonnes of storage capacity,” says Eugene Carson, Ardboe Coldstore managing director. “This will add to the twelve thousand tonnes’ provision already on site. We can also provide up to five thousand tonnes of ambient storage capacity on our existing site.

“The current development programme also provides for a new and additional blast freezing system plus a state-of-the-art packing facility. Also included is an IT controlled traceability system. This investment, which is being funded entirely from our own resources, will allow us to increase the range of services on-offer to clients,” he says.

“We are at the very heart of the Irish food industry,” Eugene says. “There are a number of leading processing operations on our doorstep in the mid-Ulster area.

The company provides a range of freezing, maturation, distribution and storage services to a large cross-section of Ireland’s blue chip food manufacturing operations. “We are fully accredited by the EU, the United States Department of Agriculture, the Rural Payments’ Agency and, most crucially, the British Retail Consortium. Our sole aim is to provide the services our clients need to run their businesses in the most efficient way possible.” Eugene says.
