Blakemore adds 10 Volvo rigids

Willenhall, West Midlands, UK: A F Blakemore & Son has added ten new Volvo FE rigids to its fleet.

Gray & Adams and Solomon provided the bodies with the chasssis supplied by Hartshorne Motor Services. The Volvo FEs are a mixture of 4×2 and 6x2s with the 18 tonners having 280hp engines, and the 26-tonners an increased 320hp output.

The cabs have Volvo’s factory-fitted lower passenger door glazing panels for increased visibility of vulnerable road users. Cycle Alert protective side skirts are also fitted.

Blakemore will use the new FEs on multi-drop distribution of food and drink products. The company anticipates a ten-year life for the trucks. Volvo trucks account for over 60% of the company’s vehicle fleet.
