Cascade Energy scoops Americold contract

Portland, OR, US: Cascade Energy has won a three-year contract to provide energy management services to 132 Americold cold-storage warehouses in the US.

Cascade Energy, which focuses on energy efficiency consulting for the industrial sector, will provide monitoring, utility bill analysis, reporting and web-based monitoring to Atlanta-based Americold.

“By working with the largest temperature-controlled warehousing company in the world, we have an opportunity to have a sweeping impact on the food storage and distribution industry,” said Marcus Wilcox, president of Cascade Energy.

“In addition to helping Americold effectively manage and reduce operating costs and increase the energy efficiency of its facilities, we hope to inspire others to consider implementing comprehensive energy management strategies,” Wilcox said.

Cascade Energy signed an agreement in April to become the energy management service partner for the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses. Americold is the association’s largest member.

Wilcox said that the demand for energy efficiency services is growing in the industrial sector.

“Sustainability is being pounded into them by stockholders, by investors and by the market,” Wilcox said. Cascade Energy is one of only a few energy companies that focus solely on the industrial market, he said.
