Cool Logistics Africa

Cape Town, South Africa: The 2nd Cool Logistics Africa conference takes place on 16-18 April 2013 at Vineyard Hotel & Spa, Cape Town, South Africa.

Returning to Cape Town for the second year running, and timed just ahead of the critical South African citrus season, The conference brings together producers, exporters, importers and retailers from multiple perishable sectors with major shipping lines, 3PLs, ports, cold store operators and other perishable logistics stakeholders.

The theme is Innovation, investment and efficiency: Delivering Africa’s cold chain potential and speakers include Hernan de Mezerville, logistics operations manager at Mondelez International and Mike Newton, regional manager for International Produce South Africa.

Snack food maker, Mondelez has a growing focus on emerging markets and is looking to develop new trade routes, including China, India, Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa.

Hernan de Mezerville will discuss how global perishable supply chain competitiveness can be achieved, including landed costs, trade impediments and what Southern Hemisphere shippers need from ocean carriers.

International Produce is a leader in the emerging trend towards retailer direct buying, taking direct control of the perishable supply chain on behalf of parent company Asda/Wal-Mart. Mike Newton will discuss the direct sourcing model in sub-Saharan Africa, and the impact on traditional supply chain, logistics and transport operations.
