Swindon, UK: XPO Logistics, which handles the storage and transport at Iceland’s Swindon distribution centre, has been battling to overcome a coronavirus outbreak after 51 staff tested positive at the end of July.
Measures were immediately put in place to curb the spread of the disease, with XPO Logistics teaming up with Swindon Borough Council and Public Health England (PHE) South West to support staff, according to press reports.
Employees have been offered on-site testing for the virus using a Mobile Testing Unit and staff who have been identified as close contacts of those infected are currently self-isolating.
XPO Logistics said: “Protecting our employees is our number one priority.
“We’re working closely with the local authorities and adhering to all local and Public Health England guidance to ensure the appropriate health and safety measures are in place.”
The site remains open.
