DB Schenker Rail hosts intermodal port conference

Milton Keynes, UK: DB Schenker Rail UK is to host its first Intermodal Port Conference on 4 September in Milton Keynes.

The invitation only conference is set to become a key part of the intermodal and port calendar, providing a unique forum for debate and discussion, the company says.

The conference aims to stimulate all parts of the intermodal and port sector to consider and review issues regarding the development of the UK intermodal market, by analysing existing issues and reviewing new opportunities for future growth.

Speakers come from universities, shipping lines, ports and retailers with over 100 invited delegates expected to attend. Carsten Hinne, managing director logistics, DB Schenker Rail UK, said,  ”This first DB Schenker Rail UK Intermodal Port Conference allows key stakeholders in this industry to meet and discuss current issues affecting this vital sector for UK economy.

“It is timed to enable shipping lines, freight forwarders and port operators to engage on important subjects before we, as an industry, respond to the full effect of the traditional autumn peak in intermodal traffic. We are confident that the Intermodal Port Conference will become a regular event in the intermodal calendar, helping to facilitate growth and development in this sector.”
