EU clears Norbert Dentressangle purchase of TDG

Brussels, Belgium: The European Commission said today (Monday) it has approved the proposed acquisition of Laxey Logistics, the holding company of UK-based logistics provider TDG, by France-based Norbert Dentressangle.

The commission said the transaction leads to “horizontal overlaps between the activities” of the two companies, especially in the UK. “However, in the markets for contract logistics, freight forwarding and road freight transport, the combined entity achieves only rather moderate market shares,” the commission said in a statement.

The commission, which has antitrust powers in the European Union, also concluded that the merged company would also continue to face competition in narrower markets like that in the UK for for contract logistics and for road freight transport of hazardous goods.

Norbert Dentressangle provides logistics and transport services, including temperature controlled transport and storage, in Europe. TDG provides similar logistics services in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, Hungary, Germany and Spain.
