FreshLinc refresh with Scania

Spalding, UK: FreshLinc Distribution has taken delivery of a further 15 Scania R 440 LA6x2/4MNA Topline tractor units on a four-year contract hire agreement.  The agreement for each truck is based on 180,000 kilometres per year, with all work to be carried out by Scania (Great Britain) Limited’s Spalding depot.

Fresh Linc1302-pr04The vehicles are now operating out of FreshLinc Distribution’s Spalding distribution centre, delivering chilled food products daily throughout the UK and Europe. These high specification vehicles have been supplied with Scania’s Topline cabs to suit both FreshLinc Distribution’s double-manning and European operations.

“The specification of these vehicles is ideal for our operations,” comments Andy Marchant, Fleet Engineer. “Our drivers are also extremely positive about Scania’s fully-automated Opticruise gear selection system, which makes driving effortless.  The trucks are all fitted with the latest Scania Euro 5 440 SCR engines, and in terms of operating economy the early indications are extremely positive.  An additional plus point is that our local Scania depot is almost next door to us, so its conveniently placed for us, which means maintenance can be carried out with minimum disruption to our operating schedules.”

FreshLinc Distribution operates 200 tractor units and 300 refrigerated trailers on European and domestic chilled and frozen food distribution.
