FTA launches emission reduction awards

Tunbridge Wells, UK: The Freight Transport Association is inviting operators to compete for the Logistics Emissions Reduction Scheme Awards. 

The awards recognize efforts made by transport compa ies to reduce emissions through improved fuel efficiency, use of green fuels and other technology.

There are two categories; Leadership in fleet efficiency, and Excellence in innovation.

Rebecca Kite, environment policy manager, Freight Transport Association, said: “These awards celebrate the “best of the best”, the companies setting a positive example to the industry and paving the way for a brighter, greener future.”
 
The average emissions from association members of the Logistics Emissions Reduction Scheme members are close to 13% lower per vehicle kilometre than the industry average, the association says.

Any member company of the Logistics Emissions Reduction Scheme is eligible to apply for the Awards. It is a free-to-join scheme which helps association members record, reduce and report emissions.  http://lers.org.uk/home/lers-awards.  The closing date for entries is 24 May 2019.
