Home delivery and urban vehicles by Paneltex at IAA

Hanover, Germany: Paneltex will be at IAA mounting its biggest ever display of vehicle bodies at this prestigious biennial event, focussing on vehicle bodies specifically designed for internet shopping, home delivery and urban logistics.

On display on the Paneltex stand will be three new and very innovative designs of temperature-controlled bodies.

Leading the way will be the Paneltex side-loading refrigerated home delivery body, which features a very low access height that eliminates the need for a side step. Mounted on a Mercedes Sprinter VS30 MWB chassis cab, this Paneltex triple compartment body covers ambient, chilled and frozen goods in a single body and has a Paneltex GRP-moulded air deflector for improved refrigeration performance and aerodynamics.

This vehicle has a 108-tote capacity with 60 totes in the ambient section, 30 in the chill section and 18 in the freezer compartment. Access to the ambient compartment at the front of the vehicle is through a roll up shutter, whilst the freeze and chilled compartments are accessed through three Paneltex vacuum moulded GRP rebated side doors manufactured to a high standard for maximum thermal efficiency and ease-of-use.

Refrigeration for this vehicle is provided by a GAH electric SRD351F dual evaporator, alternator-driven environmentally friendly electric refrigeration system.

The second vehicle on the Paneltex stand at IAA is a Mercedes Sprinter chassis cab with a rear loading home delivery insulated Paneltex body. Double slimline GRP rear doors have been fitted to the body and each door is hinged to allow 270° opening. A single side door is fitted to each side of the vehicle and these doors open through 180°.

Inside the refrigerated Paneltex body, a pair of lightweight insulated doors are fitted to separate the ambient area from the chilled area, whilst refrigeration is provided by a bespoke GAH Arrow AM20 refrigeration system. This road only unit has a condenser mounted below the nearside of the body, inside the side skirts, a slim roof evaporator mounted in a recessed housing and a streamlined moulding cover, which improves aerodynamics and airflow inside the compartment.

The three-vehicle line-up is completed by a MAN TGE L3H2 panel van with a Somers freezer conversion to carry goods at -25° C, covering frozen goods with up to 20 door openings during an eight-hour working day.

Specified with Somers Superfreeze modular rear doors, a Somers fold-back side load door and an environmentally-friendly electric Carrier Transicold Pulsor refrigeration system, this vehicle is liveried in the Arctic brand, which has been set up as part of the MAN and VW dealer network in the Netherlands.
