Hunt’s Foodservice adds 31 trucks and vans

Sherborne, UK: Hunt’s Foodservice has added 31 new vans and trucks, a mixture of replacements and additions, to its 120-vehicle fleet.

The new vehicles are all MANs and include twenty vans, three 7.5-tonners, two 12-tonners and six 18-tonners, all with refrigerated bodywork.

Carrier Transicold Pulsor 400 multi-temperature fridges cool the vans with Supra 550, Supra 850 MT and Supra 1250 MT fridges on the larger trucks.
“Our priority is maintaining the integrity of the cold chain when the doors are constantly being opened on demanding multi-drop routes, where customers are often in close proximity to each other,” said Philip Hopkins, group transport manager, Hunt’s Foodservice.

The Pulsor is powered by the van engine and has a ‘key out’ function, which allows the driver to leave the vehicle parked securely while making deliveries, without cutting power to the fridge.

Hunt’s first Carrier Transicold fridge was a Supra 1250 MT purchased in 2015. The company expects to operate the vans for three years, while the trucks will be in service for five years.

Based at depots in Sherbourne, Fareham and Bridgwater, the vehicles will be on the road up to six days a week, delivering frozen and chilled goods in southern England.
