KepT&T starts on China food logistics park

Singapore:  Keppel Telecommunications and Transport (T&T) and the Jilin City Government broke ground on a Chinese logistics park.

Keppel T&T will develop the first phase – 40 hectares – of the Sino-Singapore Jilin Food Zone International Logistics Park with the city government at a cost of 598m yuan (S$117m).  The park will occupy 114 hectares when fully developed.

The joint-venture company undertaking the project is Jilin Sino-Singapore Food Zone International Logistics Co Ltd, which is 70% held by Keppel T&T and 30% by Jilin Sino-Singapore Food Zone Development Co. It will be the sole food logistics park operator serving the Sino-Singapore Jilin Food Zone.

The logistics park will be the supply chain centre of the food zone, a joint venture between Singbridge Holdings (a Temasek Holdings company) and the Jilin City government, meant to be the “model zone” for the production of safe and healthy food in China. There 44,000 sq m of warehouse space when the park is ready in 2014 .
