Kloosterboer receives Lean and Green Award

IJmuiden, Netherlands:  The Kloosterboer Group is the first cold store to receive the Lean and Green Award which encourages companies in the Netherlands to increase sustainability and to reduce damage to the environment.

The Connekt Sustainable Logistics programme, developed through a collaboration between Connekt and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, hands out this award to companies who are actively dedicated to making their logistics process more sustainable.

The Kloosterboer Group is the market leader in temperature-controlled storage and distribution of food-related products in the Netherlands.

The company has installed full automatic highbay cold stores at Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte and in Harnes, France. These cold stores use 40% less energy than conventional cold stores with the same storage capacity. Within the framework of the Lean and Green Award, Kloosterboer has made a commitment to reduce CO2-emissions by 20% within five years.
