Marten’s profits soar 32% in first quarter

Mondovi, WI, US: Marten Transport, which specialises in temperature-controlled transport, has posted its 12th-consecutive year-on-year increase in quarterly net income during its financial first quarter.

Profits jumped 32% to $7.2 million for the first quarter ended March 31, from $5.4 million for the first quarter last year.

Operating revenue, which includes revenue from truckload and logistics operations, increased 9% to $164.5 million from $151.5 million a year ago.

The gains were largely driven by cost efficiencies, improvements in equipment use and a focus on “customer solutions,” said chairman and chief executive Randolph Marten.
