New officers for International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses

Alexandria, VA, US: New officers and board members have been appointed for the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW) and the World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO), an education and research foundation affiliated with IARW.

David M Harlan, president and chief executive of United States Cold Storage in Voorhees, New Jersey, US, was elected as the 2012-2013 chairman of the IARW board of the directors at the association’s 2012 annual convention.

Other new IARW officers elected for the coming year are: Doug Thomas (president and chief executive of Bellingham Cold Storage) as vice chairman, and Terry Brown (president of Diversified Port Holdings) as treasurer.

New directors-at-large members elected to serve three-year terms include José Carranza (Agroempaques) and Carey Falcone (Americold Logistics). In addition, Drew Greenberg (Newport-St. Paul Cold Storage Co) was elected to represent the Heartland Chapter and Judson Anderson (Loop Cold Storage) was elected to represent the Southwestern Chapter for three-year terms.

The European Cold Storage and Logistics Association (ECSLA) and the Refrigerated Warehouse &Transport Association of Australia (RWTA) also nominated members to serve. Hans Van Leeuwen (Frigolanda Cold Logistics) was nominated by ECSLA and elected to the board of directors to serve a three-year term. David O’Brien (Doboy Cold Stores), nominated by RWTA, was also elected to serve a three-year term.

Larry Rauch (president, Los Angeles Cold Storage Co, Los Angeles, California, US) was elected as the 2012-2013 chairman of WFLO board of governors. Other new WFLO officers elected were vice chairman Bill Hendricksen (chief executive of Castle & Cook Cold Storage) and as treasurer, Frank Plant (manager at San Diego Cold Storage).

New board members elected to serve three-year terms include Brian Beazer (Winchester Cold Storage) and Ravi Kannan (Snowman Logistics). Board members Nick Pedneault (Congebec Logistics); Greg Brandt (Nor-Am Cold Storage); and Fred Walker (Americold Logistics) were re-nominated to serve another three-year term.

In addition, Daryl Lund from the University of Wisconsin was re-nominated as a public member and chairman of the WFLO scientific advisory council.

• The IARW promotes excellence in the global temperature-controlled warehouse and logistics industry. WFLO delivers education and research to the industry and empowers economic development by strengthening the global cold chain.  Both associations are partners of the Global Cold Chain Alliance, which represents all major industries engaged in temperature-controlled logistics.
