Nordic opens new site at Savannah

Port of Savannah, GA, US: Nordic Logistics and Warehousing is building a temperature-controlled warehouse six miles from the Port of Savannah.

The first phase of the 37,000sq metre, US$50m warehouse will open at the year, with phase two expected to be complete by mid-2013. The site will store 45,000 pallets of frozen and refrigerated products, USDA inspection, repackaging and blast freezing of  6,800 tonnes of product per week.

Don Schoenl, president and chief executive officer of Nordic, says: “Our Savannah facility is a reflection of Nordic’s commitment to meet the temperature-controlled supply chain requirements that our customers want today and will need tomorrow,” he said.

The Port of Savannah is the second largest in the US for exports and the largest exporter of containerized poultry.
