People first at Cold Chain Federation seminars

Reading, UK: The Cold Chain Federation is staging a two-day online seminar exploring labour shortages.

Retaining our people has emerged as one of the biggest long-term issues facing businesses across the supply chain, the Federation said.

“In this event we will focus on how you can get ahead with recruitment and keeping hold of your best assets whilst attracting diversity to your workforce.”

The event takes place next week on 21 – 22 September.

Day 1 is devoted to recruiting, retaining, and motivating with speakers including:
• Shane Brennan, Cold Chain Federation, who will provide an overview of the recruitment issues facing cold chain businesses and how the Federation is working with Government to provide solutions.
• Mark Burrell, Moran Logistics, will detail how Moran have been impacted by the crisis and how schemes such as the Apprenticeship Levy have helped to develop his workforce, and
• Kate Shoesmith, Deputy CEO Recruitment Employment Federation, will provide the inside view on the recruitment crisis and practical advice on how businesses can make themselves more attractive to potential employees.

Day 2 is about women in the cold chain and speakers include:

Kirsten Tisdale, Aricia Consulting, Bethany Windsor, Novus Trust and Think Logistics, and Gemma Ufton, KIWA.

There is also a panel discussion including: Amanda Cogan, chief operating officer, Magnavale Group; Jacqueline Barnett, marketing manager, Buffaload Logistics; Joanna Webster, compliance manager, The Ice Company Storage and Logistics; and Sharon Mughal, membership director, Cold Chain Federation.
