Surge in TrailerConnect retrofits

Warrington, UK: Schmitz Cargobull reports a surge in retrofits of its TrailerConnect hardware.

It has fitted the system to 128 trailers in the year to March 2019, up on 10 fittings the previous year.

Steve Vincent, UK head of aftermarket, Schmitz Cargobull said: “TrailerConnect can make a real difference to a fleet’s bottom line and we knew retrofitting would be popular – we just perhaps didn’t expect the pace of change we have seen in the last year.”

“These figures clearly demonstrate the level of focus operators are now putting on trailer telematics because of the tangible results the system provides, which cannot be gleaned purely from a telematics system on a tractor,” he said.

TrailerConnect provides real-time temperature monitoring gives operators visibility of deliveries, and helps with better route planning, and maintenance. Data from the system is hosted online and accessed through any mobile phone.
