Time’s running out for Euro 5 orders

London, UK: British operators have a crucial window of opportunity in the first half of 2013 ot order new vehicles and avoid “substantial financial penalties with no operational benefit” says a White Paper, commissioned by Lombard.

Lombard’s commercial transport team, which has been working with fleet managers to help identify the most cost-effective methods of vehicle acquisition, says the consensus is that too few have formulated a strategy.

Businesses will come unstuck if they do not act soon, says Lombard, because Euro 6 vehicles cost 10-12% higher than Euro 5 vehicles,

From 1 January 2014 any new vehicle registered must be Euro 6 compliant but manufacturers’ order books are already filling up and time is running out for those that have not planned ahead.
