UPS expands Asia healthcare service

Marietta, OH, US: UPS has launched Temperature True, its door-to-door cold chain transport and monitoring service in Asia.

UPS has also introduced PharmaPort 360, airfreight containers for healthcare cold chain transport. The PharmaPort 360 has built-in sensors that monitor shipment temperature and GPS location and transmit this data to UPS to monitor the container for select “heartbeats” such as internal and external temperatures, near real-time location and battery life.

Manufactured by Cool Containers for UPS, the PharmaPort 360 is validated, tested and exceeds healthcare industry standards for temperature-sensitive compliance. The container maintains temperatures for protecting medicines that need to stay within the required 2-8°C for more than 100 hours.

An AC rechargeable battery powers the container’s temperature control and monitoring systems.  The unit’s technology replaces the need for dry ice, thus eliminating the associated handling fees and hazardous materials charges.
