US temperature-controlled operators among Top Green Providers

Salt Lake City, UT, US: US food and drink supply chain magazine Food Logistics has named CR England and RWI Transportation as two of its Top Green Providers for 2012.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition,” said Allen Nielsen, director of fuel, CR England. “We have continually worked to find and implement sustainable transport solutions. During the past year, we saw great improvement in fuel consumption as a result of our various driver programmes as well as implemented five liquid natural gas tractors into our fleet.”

RWI Transportation, a logistics company providing regional and national truckload services, including refrigerated warehousing services, was also recognised.

“RWI Transportation has established unique initiatives to protect the environment while maintaining the integrity of its primarily temperature-controlled, perishable shipments,” said Richard Bauer, executive vice president and general manager of RWI Transportation. “Our efforts include reducing fuel usage and emissions through equipment, training and mode selection.”

The Top Green Providers list was created to recognise companies in the food and beverage sector that have embraced sustainability practices as central to their operations.
