World’s biggest truck safety blitz

Greenbelt, MD, US: Truck and bus safety inspectors will be on the job night and day during the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s 72-hour International Roadcheck from 7 to 9 June, checking vehicles and their drivers at inspection sites along major highways across North America.

The alliance is made up of local, state, provincial, territorial and federal motor-carrier safety officials and industry representatives in the US, Canada and Mexico. The inspections are held in cooperation with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators, Transport Canada and the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation of Mexico.

Roadcheck is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial vehicles in the world, with approximately 14 trucks or buses inspected every minute, on average, from Canada to Mexico during a 72-hour period.
