Yearsley Group plans another 160,000sq ft cold store

Heywood, United Kingdom: Cold food storage and distribution company Yearsley Group plans an additional a 160,000 sq ft facility near its close to its headquarters in Heywood, Lancashire.

The privately owned firm is to buy a neighbouring 13.6-acre plot on the Hareshill Distribution Park to expand existing operations at a cost of £20m.

Harry Yearsley, managing director said: “We invested heavily in making Heywood the centre of our UK operations in 1999 and it is the obvious location for our future expansion.

Yearsley Group operates from a cold store facility at Heywood and has 12 UK depots. Its food sales business supplies retailers, caterers and other outlets in the UK and Continent. It also imports products under the Belfield brand, supplying private label and branded goods to manufacturers and foods service and retailers.

Annual turnover rose to £160m with the acquisition of Ice Pak Seafood Specialists, which supplies frozen food to wholesalers and restaurants and has sites in Middleton, Greater Manchester, and Leeds.
